Uravappara Temple Idukki

Uravappara Temple is also another religious place for Hindu people in Idukki. It is a beautiful hillock religious temple.


Location : Uravappara Temple is located at Olamattom near Thodupuzha in Idukki District.


About Temple 

Uravappara Temple is situated at a height of 500 ft above sea level. Due to its religious significance and its location it attract many devotees and nature lovers. Uravappara Temple is dedicated to Subramanya Swami. 


The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Muruga as Bala Subramanya. The temple is also called as the name Malayala Palani. The name Malayala Palani comes from the very famous Subramanya Swami Temple at Palani in Tamil Nadu. 


The history of the temple is linked with Pandavas, the legend says that it was at this place that the Pandavas stayed here during their exile. In this temple a pond is situated and it believed the this pond have been made by Bhim, one among the Pandavas. At present time this pond is known as Uravappara.


Main Festival : The annual festival of the temple falls in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January/February). During this festival devotees main offerings to the deity are salt and pepper.
